Leathers can molt?

Whatever you call it, both Leather Corals shrunk to less than 1/2 their normal size.  After blasting them both with a stream of water they rebounded.  Yucky dead tissue looking stuff came off of them.  Looking better now.

Xenia split

I placed an old piece of live rock next to the Xenia and within a week one stalk fell on to the rock.  But before the stalk was separated from the big trunk, another stalk fell on the rock.  After the second stalk separated, I moved the rock to the back corner.  We want the Xenia to creep up the back panel and “blanket” it.  Time will tell.

Water change

Changed 5.0 gallons with Aquatic Warehouse RO-DI water and Reef Crystals salt.

Water change

Changed 3.5 gallons with Aquatic Warehouse RO-DI water and Reef Crystals salt.

Something old and something new

Added a Harlequin Sea Star and 2 more Peppermint Shrimp.

Harlequin Sea Star

Water change

Changed 5.0 gallons with Aquatic Warehouse RO-DI water and Reef Crystals salt.

New Leather coral added

Added a small Toadstool Leather Coral

Water change

Changed 5.0 gallons with Aquatic Warehouse RO-DI water and 90% Oceanic salt and 10% Instant Ocean salt.

The Xenia seemed to respond better to this mix by not appearing fried.  I suspect the Oceanic pH is closer to the tank than Instant Ocean.  Based on this write up it would stand to reason this is the case.

Part 1 is here and
Part 2 is here

One less Chromi

Noticed a Chromi swimming stationary under a rock.  Not looking good, and later died.  The two remaining are doing fine though one is clearly the dominant leader, leisurely picking and chasing the other.
